Fashion has two distinct photographic jobs: the campaign image that establishes the brand, and the catalogue image that sells the garment. Confusing them costs money on both sides.
Campaign versus catalogue
A campaign image carries mood and positioning; a catalogue image has to show cut, colour and fit with total consistency across hundreds of products. They need different lighting, different direction and usually different sessions.
E-commerce consistency at volume
For online sales, consistency matters more than artistry. A fixed setup, controlled colour and identical framing across the catalogue is what stops returns caused by a garment looking different on the page than in the parcel.
